Commonwealth Bank – Case Study

COMMONWEALTH BANK OF AUSTRALIASydney, Australia. Workplace Giving Australia. 2015. Article

Commonwealth Bank and staff proudly runs the Staff Community Fund Australia’s oldest workplace giving program.

“Generosity and workplace giving is part of the Group’s culture, and, in a busy work environment, our staff told us they want workplace giving to be easy”  Nathan Barker, Executive Manager – Community Investment, Commonwealth Bank

To make it simple for staff to participate, workplace giving sign-up is included in employment contracts, with new employees being opted into to a $4 per fortnight donation unless they opted out.

To build awareness and engagement, a membership drive is run each year to thank workplace giving members for their support, celebrate the difference donations are making and invite them to review their donation level.  The campaign also invites non-members to learn more about the community initiatives that workplace giving contributions support and to join the Fund by signing a pre populated membership form with a reply paid envelope.

34% of CommBank staff (or 13,000 employees) are now giving together to help Australian kids in need.
