Workplace Giving Month 2020 : More Important Than Ever!

WORKPLACE GIVING AUSTRALIASydney, Australia. Self published. 2020. Article

Media release: 21 May 2020

During June, Australia’s peak body for workplace giving – Workplace Giving Australia (WGA) – is highlighting the importance of funds that working Australians are donating from their pay to charities.

June is Workplace Giving Month and WGA is calling on employers to implement a campaign for their team members.  To assist, WGA has prepared a free kit of materials for employers and charities to use.  For 2020, the kit has been adapted to accommodate employees working remotely due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“Charities across our country are experiencing unprecedented demand for their services, yet due to the COVID-19 crisis, many have not been in a position to implement traditional fundraising campaigns.  Yet again, workplace giving is proving to be a stable and recurring form of fundraising” said Jenny Geddes, CEO, Workplace Giving Australia.

“On behalf of those in our community in need, we encourage employers to implement a campaign for their team to get behind…all the 50 cents and $1 dollar donations from working Australians add up to millions when combined with other working Australians.”
