2023 Australian Workplace Giving Award – Highly Commended

Category – Best Corporate + Charity Partnership

Optus has been collaborating with StandbyU since their participation in the 2018 Optus Future Makers program. They noticed those experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV) were seeking practical assistance from their telecommunications provider to obtain a new phone or sim, as one of their first steps towards independence. StandbyU provides Optus with solutions to help more vulnerable people achieve digital safety, and Optus connects StandbyU participants to vital data and connectivity services. Since 2018, StandbyU has conducted practical DFV training for their frontline retail employees, and rolled out their ‘StandbyU Shield’ wearable safety devices, of which vulnerable people can access in stores.
