Building mutually beneficial relationships

Here are some strategies to consider to help build mutually beneficial partnerships with your charity partners:

1. Partnership alignment with organisational strategy

Choose charity partners that align with your organisation’s purpose and clearly communicate to your team why partners have been chosen. Having an authentic giving program can help create loyalty and trust. READ MORE ABOUT TRUST

2. Building on the impact of payroll donations

Payroll donations are the bedrock of a workplace giving program and can often be the springboard for volunteering, pro bono support and cause related marketing campaigns. In 2018 the Stroke Foundation partnered with NAB to bring greater awareness to their campaign “Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check”. Digital health check stations were placed in the lobby of NAB’s office. The digital health check stations provided employees with a non-threatening engagement opportunity to discuss blood pressure as a leading risk factor for stroke. This lead to a five minute digital health check while speaking about the topic of supporting the Stroke Foundation through NAB’s matched workplace giving program.

3. Build genuine partnerships

7-Eleven Australia saw a natural alignment with SecondBite, a charity that collects, sorts and redistributes food to struggling Australian families. Through this partnership 7-Eleven is able to minimise food waste as well as offer their employees general and skilled volunteering opportunities through Good Cause, the 7-Eleven workplace giving and community partnership program.  In addition to financial support, SecondBite benefits from gaining know how in supply chain and logistics management working with the expertise of the 7-Eleven team as part of their partnership.Jim Mullan, SecondBite’s CEO and 7-Eleven team members share how important this partnership is to them.
