Organisations are extending their impact in the community by matching staff donations

Donation matching comes in many shapes and sizes.  Some organisations match donations to a capped amount, some match dollar for dollar, some double match and others offer one-off matching opportunities. Whatever the policy, together with their employees, these organisations are extending their impact and in the process are sending a strong message to their staff that they are supporting their donation.

ANZ’s Double Matching Program

To mark June Workplace Giving Month, Shayne Elliott, CEO ANZ, announced from 1 June 2019, that ANZ will double match employee charitable donations through their workplace giving programs in Australia and New Zealand. For every $1 an employee donates, ANZ will donate $2.

ANZ’s giving programs enable staff, customers and shareholders to make regular and once-off donations to community organisations.  Staff in Australia can make contributions to charity partners through regular payroll deductions. Staff donations (up to $5,000 per employee in a tax year) are double matched by ANZ.

This is an ongoing commitment and ANZ is encouraging all its team members in Australia and New Zealand to get involved.

BHP’s Matched Giving Program

BHP encourages employees to support eligible not for profit organisations through its Matched Giving Program, under which BHP matches employees’ personal financial donations up to a cap of USD 10,000 per person per year.

Employee donations are matched 2:1, which means, for every dollar donated by an employee, BHP will donate two dollars.

In order to create greater impact with the charities that are most popular with its employees, in financial year 2019 BHP moved from an unrestricted program to 50 eligible organisations worldwide.

SEEK Match $ for $

SEEK’s workplace giving program, “Small Change”, matches its Australian employees’ donations dollar for dollar and the amount is uncapped.

Small Change’s mission is to have a positive impact on society. SEEK’s ten charity partners are chosen by employees. Most of its charity partners have causes or programs linked to SEEK’s core business of education and employment and reflect the issues that SEEK’s employees are passionate about.
